Indian RuPay card and UPI payments get nod in Oman

After Singapore, Nepal, UAE, Bhutan, Malaysia and France, Oman has become the seventh nation in the world to accept Indian payment methods.

In a move to benefit, the significant Indian population in Muscat, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) International Payments Ltd (NIPL) and Central Bank of Oman (CBO) signed an agreement to accept RuPay card (card issued by Indian bank) and Unified Payments Interface (UPI) QR Code based mobile payments in Oman.

According to an official statement, the MoU will enable the acceptance of Indian RuPay cards issued at all OmanNet network ATMs, POS & E-commerce sites; as well as reciprocal acceptance of Oman cards/MPCSS in the networks of NPCI in India.
