University of Alberta and IIT Kanpur to offer joint doctoral degree

The combined doctoral programme will give students the chance to collaborate with experts from both universities who are globally renowned in important research fields of shared interest and will enable them to earn useful experience while pursuing their PhD studies.

A contract for a joint degree programme (JDP) and research collaboration between the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) and the University of Alberta, Canada, was signed, on January 18, at IIT Kanpur.

The partnership between the two institutions makes it possible for doctorate students from either institution to take part in the joint degree programme and carry out research at the other institution for a year or longer and be jointly supervised by academics from the two universities.
