UK backs India's permanent UN Security Council seat

UN is hosting discussions on Intergovernmental Negotiations on Security Council reform to ensure that it is fit for resolving issues in the 21st century

The United Kingdom supported the expansion of the United Nations Security Council and grant of permanent membership to India said Richard Croker, UK's Ambassador to the UN.

Croker said the UK acknowledges that the world is not the same as it was in 1946 during the first meeting of the Security Council or 1965 when it was last expanded and it is for this reason that the country wants reforms in it.
