UK Home Secy’s ‘migrant’ comment could throw spanner in FTA with India

About flexibility of visa rules for Indian students and entrepreneurs, Braverman said she has her reservations on the matter

UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman’s observation that the largest group of people who overstay in Britain are Indian migrants might throw a spanner in the free trade agreement to be inked between the two countries before the end of this month.

Her strong reservations about the upcoming trade deal with New Delhi is contrary to the keenness being shown by Prime Minister Liz Truss to conclude the agreement before Diwali, a major festival to be celebrated across India on Oct. 24, 2022.
