UK Asian Film Festival (UKAFF) 2022 made a grand opening on Wednesday with the Pakistan film, Javed Iqbal: The Untold Story Of A Serial Killer, at the British Film Institute, Southbank.

Currently banned in Pakistan, the film is based on the story of serial killer Javed Iqbal, who sexually abused and killed more than 100 children in Lahore between 1998 and 1999.

This years’ theme “Dare to Dream” commemorates 75 years of India and Pakistan’s Independence. The festival will run from May 4-15 in venues across London, Birmingham, Leicester, Coventry, Warwick, Bradford, Stockton and Glasgow.

It is also available online via BFI Player and Modern Films. This year marked the 24th UK Asian Film Festival which is the world’s longest running South Asian film festival outside India.
