The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) levied a fine of US$1.4 million and ordered Tata-owned Air India to pay passenger refunds of $121.5 million for significantly delayed, cancelled or changed flights.
According to an official statement, the department received numerous complaints from air travelers since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic about airlines’ failures to provide timely refunds after they had their flights canceled or significantly changed.
