Kal Penn to host "The Oscars for Books" awards

The awards will host luminaries from literature, entertainment, and the media and present over $350,000 in prizes.

Indian American actor, writer, producer, and former Obama White House assistant, Kal Penn will be the host for the 60th annual PEN America Literary Awards nicknamed "the Oscars for books" by former host Seth Meyers.

Scheduled for Thursday, March 2, 2023, this year's event will be a gathering of the city's literary, publishing, entertainment, and media heavyweights with ardent book lovers to present some of the most prominent awards in literature.
