Switzerland, Japan, Sweden top the list of world's most-educated population

The U.S. was in the 21st rank, but four U.S. universities have gained positions in the top global universities in QS world rankings in 2023.

The World of Statistics released a report on the world's most educated population with Switzerland, Japan and Sweden topping the list. The education system in a country speaks highly of a nation's development, yet the U.S. came in the 21st spot, while India did not get ranked.

The others in the top-10 list include Germany at 4th rank, followed by the U.K., Denmark, Norway, Finland, Canada, and the Netherlands. China is in the 26th spot.

The U.S. was in the 21st rank, but four U.S. universities have gained positions in the top global universities in QS world rankings in 2023. The first was the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University came in third while Harvard University was fifth and the University of Chicago in the 10th spot.

According to the government's data, the literacy rate in India is 74.04 percent while the literacy rate in the U.S. is 79 percent It remains unclear on what criteria the rankings were done.

“Education is a powerful agent of change, and improves health and livelihoods, contributes to social stability and drives long-term economic growth. Education is also essential to the success of every one of the 17 sustainable development goals,” according to the Global Partnership for Education. “When access to education and learning grows, the ripple effects on communities and countries are remarkable.”

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi Marlena said while speaking at India Today Conclave event in New Delhi on March 17, 2023, that most children across India do not have access to quality education.

"We need to start thinking about raising our voices to face the challenges in our country. While on one hand, we talk about a growing Indian economy, there are many worrying points that global indexes throw at us. You have India, year after year, falling from global positions. This is where the Indian voice needs to be heard and raised.”
