According to a recently released UNESCO report, the extent of non-state participation in all dimensions of educational systems is the highest in South Asia when compared to the rest of the world.
Accessing the situation in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, the report finds that dissatisfaction with public schools and intense competition in entrance exams caused highest levels of enrolment in private institutions in these countries.
