Social Registry will be one-stop database for all welfare schemes

This comes ahead of the general elections in 2024.

The Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) will take shape into a social registry jointly developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and NITI Aayog.

This comes ahead of the general elections in 2024 as the government will merge the beneficiary identification schemes to complete an asset-based classification of the poor for socio and economic benefits. The registry will act as a single-source database for all welfare programmes, which will be updated on a real-time basis.
