Sikh of Indian descent wins NSW Australian of the Year title

Through their Turban Fest events, Singh and his team are also educating people about the Sikh community in places all around Australia.

Amar Singh, 41, the founder and president of "Turbans 4 Australia," was recently awarded the  Through their Turban Fest events, Singh and his team are also educating people about the Sikh community in places all around Australia.

A New South Wales (NSW) government release noted that Singh, who received the award in the Local Hero category, formed the charity in 2015 after encountering racial epithets and abuses because of his Sikh beard and turban.
