Rishi Sunak, Britain's Prime Minister was in Riga, the capital of Latvia, on Dec.19, 2022, when he defended the UK's record on race and emphasised the importance of one’s ancestry while fielding questions from reporters.

"I don't believe that Britain is a racist country. And I'd hope that as our nation's first British Asian Prime Minister, when I say that, it carries some weight," the Indian origin PM told reporters.

"You know, I'm really proud of our country, its culture, its resilience and its beauty. And actually, it's an enormous privilege to lead the country and indeed its institutions like the monarchy when I'm out on the world stage as I am here today," he added.
