The recently published findings of Statistics Canada’s(StatCan) 2021 language census found Punjabi to be the fourth most widely spoken language in Canadian homes and the second most widely spoken non-official language, after Mandarin.
The findings reported that 4.6 million Canadians speak a language other than English and French, the two official languages of Canada, at home. With 520,000 speakers, Punjabi accounted for more than half a million while Mandarin took the top spot with 530,000 speakers.
