Punjabi fourth most widely spoken language in Canada finds Census

Punjabi speaking population of Canada belonged to the areas of Calgary, Edmonton, Kitchener–Cambridge–Waterloo, Kamloops and Abbotsford–Mission.

The recently published findings of Statistics Canada’s(StatCan) 2021 language census found Punjabi to be the fourth most widely spoken language in Canadian homes and the second most widely spoken non-official language, after Mandarin.

The findings reported that 4.6 million Canadians speak a language other than English and French, the two official languages of Canada, at home. With 520,000 speakers, Punjabi accounted for more than half a million while Mandarin took the top spot with 530,000 speakers.
