PM's Mann Ki Baat is a story of India: Padma Shri recipient

The weekly radio show hosted by the Prime Minister has 230 million regular listeners, a survey revealed.

Padma Shri Sanjeev Bhikchandani, an entrepreneur and co-founder of Info Edge, which owns, lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's radio show Mann Ki Baat as "a mosaic of the story of India". He made the remarks while speaking at a special conclave commemorating the 100th episode of the show.

"Each individual programme is a few stories, but when you add up, it is a mosaic of the story of India, and the Prime Minister tells it so well,” Bhikchandani said.

Organized by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the National Conclave on Mann Ki Baat @100, held in New Delhi featured several notable figures from various fields.

A panel consisting of radio jockey R J Raunac; T. V. Mohandas Pai, a former CFO and Board Member at Infosys and a Padma Shri awardee; Ravi Kumar Narra, an entrepreneur and national president of Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry and also a Padma Shri awardee; and Mohd.Abbas Bhat, the head of a company that produces lotus stem products in Dal Lake, commented on the relevance of the radio show.

Stressing on the importance of the PM's broadcast, Narra said, “The Prime Minister has captured the pulse of the people and Mann Ki Baat is a programme which unites everyone, not only culturally and religiously but administratively as well. This is going to give a very positive result in the development of our country.”

“It is a matter of great pride that India’s most -listened programme is a radio programme, the Prime Minister has chosen such a medium which can reach almost every person. When you listen to him, you do not feel that he is speaking to 140 crore people or to a group, you feel that he is speaking to you, ” Raunac added.

A thematic session titled "Jan Samvad Se Atmanirbharta", which explored the role of Mann Ki Baat in promoting Self Reliance and Nation Building was also organized during the event. The session was led by Shradha Sharma,  founder and CEO of YourStory Media.
