Oppose religious nationalist organisations, christian bodies urge

Maintaining that the 32 million Christians of India are living in “anxious and uncertain times”, the above mentioned organisations have expressed deep concern at the persecution.

The Indian Caucus of the United Methodist Church and the New Federation of Asian American United Methodists (NFAAUM) have urged their denomination take up with the United States Congress and State Department to investigate and oppose all religious nationalist organisations especially those that “legitimate acts of violence” and in particular the growing expressions of Hindu nationalism.

Maintaining that the 32 million Christians of India are living in “anxious and uncertain times”, the above mentioned organisations have expressed deep concern at the persecution that included vandalising and demolishing places of worship with impunity, pointing out that The Federation of Indian American Christians in North America(FIACONA) had recorded that 400 churches have been demolished and 700 incidents of violence against Christians in 2022 alone.
