Odisha approves Indigo bid for Int'l flights to benefit diaspora

Due to the lack of direct international flights from Bhubaneshwar, travelers from the state rely on Delhi or Kolkata airports.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, in a cabinet meeting on December 27,2022, authorized Indigo Airlines request to operate direct flights from the capital city Bhubaneswar to Dubai, Bangkok, and Singapore.

He had assured the Odia diaspora in an Investors’ meet in Dubai on June 29 that a direct flight between Dubai and Bhubaneswar would start operations shortly.
