New York Mayor, Eric Adams, honored Rajinder Singh, the founder of Science of Spirituality, by presenting a special citation in a ceremony at New York City Hall. The citation recognised Singh’s dedication to promoting peace and interfaith harmony and inspiring people from all walks of life to pursue spiritual growth.
Presenting the honor, Adams said, “As New York’s first Mayor to champion a plant-based diet, I am pleased to count Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj in this mission, and I applaud his commitment to foster peace and interfaith harmony while inspiring diverse people on the paths to spiritual growth.”
Also present at the event were the Spiritual leader’s wife, Mata Rita, son Dr Kunwarjit Singh Duggal, delegates, and several of the Mayor's senior advisors, including Dilip Chauhan, New York City's Deputy Commissioner for International Affairs.
Singh briefed the audience on the relationship between meditation and mental health and shared how meditation significantly contributes to stress reduction and provides serenity, balance, and tranquillity. “Not only can meditation help first responders like the police, firefighters, and medical practitioners deal with stress, but it can give students important tools to improving their concentration and leading calmer, more balanced lives. Meditation can also impact the lives of veterans, who have served their country with honour, helping them deal with the many challenges they face daily,” he elaborated.
According to Singh, every individual possesses a source of spiritual energy that is accessible via meditation. “The knowledge we acquire not only alters our lives but also that of our families, communities, and the entire planet,” he emphasized. Mayor Adams then urged that the Science of Spirituality and New York City authorities look into possible meditation-related projects that may benefit city residents.
During the event, Singh presented the Mayor copies of two of his best-selling books: Detox the Mind, which offers advice, meditations, and exercises to lessen daily stress and discover joy, and Meditation and Medication for the Soul, which includes studies by authorities and medical professionals on how meditation enhances mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing.
