The 13th edition of the Indian Film Festival in Gwangju took place on Nov. 29 and 30 at the Asia Culture Center in South Korea.
The two-day festival was made possible with the participation of Korean cinephiles and the Indian diaspora in Gwangju, who came together to celebrate the richness and diversity of Indian cinema.
The festival screened four Indian movies from different directors: “English Vinglish” by Gauri Shinde, “12th Fail” by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, “Hellaro” by Abhishek Shah, and “Manjummel Boys” by Chidambaram S. Poduval.
These movies displayed the different cultural settings of India, along with addressing relevant topics concerning the community, as well as providing an interesting cinematic experience to all.
A treat for all film enthusiasts, which brings a new experience to the people of Gwangju while making the Indian diaspora feel a bit closer to home.
The 13th Indian Film Festival was also celebrated across different cities in South Korea last month, including Busan, Yangsan, Incheon, and Miryang, among others. “Zindagi Na Milege Dobara” by director Zoya Akhtar and Vikram by Lokesh Kanagaraj were also screened in some of the locations.
This annual event intends to grow and cherish the cinematic bond between India and the Republic of Korea while honoring the creativity, diversity, and spirit of Indian cinema.
