Karan Johar to host Indian version of ‘The Traitors’
The show will stream exclusively on Prime Video starting June 12.

Prime Video has unveiled the trailer for its highly anticipated unscripted original series ‘The Traitors’, which is set to premiere June 12.
Hosted by filmmaker and television personality Karan Johar, the Indian adaptation of the internationally acclaimed reality show format promises to be a game of deception, trust, and betrayal.

Produced by BBC Studios India Productions in collaboration with All3Media International, the series brings together 20 well-known Indian celebrities at the Suryagarh Palace in Rajasthan. During the show, participants will engage in a high-stakes psychological contest to unmask “traitors” secretly chosen by the host.
With a cash prize at stake, the show challenges players—called “innocents”—to complete missions and eliminate hidden traitors among them through strategic gameplay and deduction.
The ensemble cast includes Anshula Kapoor, Apoorva, Ashish Vidyarthi, Uorfi Javed, Karan Kundrra, Jannat Zubair, Raj Kundra, Raftaar, and others, offering a diverse mix of personalities, each bringing their own edge to the psychological drama.
Commenting on the show, Karan Johar said, “The Traitors is a show to watch out for! You will see me enjoy myself to the hilt, as I not only orchestrate the gameplay but also get a front-row seat to all the chaos, conflicts, and conspiracies that transpire between the 20 players. The drama gets way too real, and the stakes even more so.”
Nikhil Madhok, head of Originals at Prime Video India, added, “With The Traitors, we’re diving headfirst into a format unlike anything India has seen before, and the trailer is just a glimpse into the edgy, gripping, and wildly unpredictable show that redefines what reality content can be. It is the ultimate test of trust and betrayal, where the players are under a constant cloud of betrayal with their minds as their only aide.”
“The Indian adaptation adds its own texture to the globally celebrated format while retaining the core elements that have made the show a worldwide phenomenon,” Madhok said.
‘The Traitors’ is an international reality competition show based on the Dutch series De Verraders, created by Marc Pos. It first aired in the Netherlands, leading to adaptations in several countries. The American version premiered on January 12, 2023, on Peacock, hosted by Alan Cumming. The format has been adapted in the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada, each airing on local networks. The show is also available on streaming platforms like BBC iPlayer, 10 Play, Crave, and Videoland in countries including the Netherlands, Belgium, and Australia.
