NRI Ravi Tilwani has alleged that he was physically assaulted by three individuals at ‘145 Club’ in Bandra West, Mumbai.
The Bandra police registered an FIR on Dec. 6 against three people, including two bouncers, for assaulting Tilwani with their hands and beating him on the head with shoes, leading to injuries and bleeding.
The 30-year-old victim, who is a resident of Mulund West and currently stays in London, where he is employed in the IT sector, had arrived in India for vacation.
According to the FIR, Tilwani and two friends, Tirth Patel, 33, and Umang Patel, 31, visited the club on Ambedkar Road, and the assault took place for no apparent reason while they were dancing.
When Tilwani confronted the bouncers, they threw him out of the club by allegedly dragging him down the staircase toward the entrance. His friends also came out, and when they confronted the bouncers, one of them, identified as Pranay, slapped Tirth Patel and verbally abused him.
The police were called by one of Tilwani’s friends, and upon their arrival, the victims were taken to Bhabha Hospital in Bandra West for a medical check-up.
Following the medical assessment, a complaint was filed against the two bouncers and another individual present with them.
Police have issued notices to the accused under several sections of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, which applies to cognizable offences where arrest is not required.
The sections include 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 118(1) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt with dangerous weapons or means), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 352 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), and 3(5) (general explanations).
