PolyML, an Ontario-based leader in data analytics and machine learning, has announced the appointment of Chameli Naraine to its Board of Directors. A highly respected figure in the fintech and payments landscape, Naraine’s addition marks a pivotal moment in PolyML’s growth and underscores its focus on responsible, cutting-edge innovation.
Naraine served as President and CEO of Symcor from 2010 to 2024, where she spearheaded a major digital transformation that redefined the company’s role in Canada’s financial ecosystem. Her leadership helped Symcor emerge as a digital-first provider of secure business process outsourcing and technology services for industries such as finance, telecom, and utilities. Widely regarded as one of Canada’s most influential fintech executives, Naraine’s legacy is rooted in strategic foresight, cultural reinvention, and industry disruption.
“Bringing Chameli’s calibre of leadership and her deep payments industry experience to our Board is a game-changer for PolyML,” said Mardi Witzel, CEO of PolyML. “We are incredibly excited about the strategic insights and innovative spirit she will bring to our team.”
PolyML co-founder and Chairman Dr. Gaston Gonnet added, “Chameli’s visionary approach to technology, governance, and risk management will be absolutely critical as PolyML enters its next phase of growth. Her addition strengthens our ability to deliver cutting-edge, compliant, and explainable AI solutions to global financial institutions.”
Outside the corporate arena, Naraine is also a committed philanthropist. Through the Naraine Family Foundation, she supports education, health, and wellness initiatives for women and children in Canada, India, Honduras, and Kenya. She has also led the transformation of her family farms into eco-friendly, sustainable ventures that provide fresh produce to underserved communities and hands-on agricultural education for students.
Naraine’s accolades include being named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women, Ascend Canada’s Pan-Asian Leader of the Year, and recipient of the Trailblazer Award from Women’s College Hospital.
Her appointment signals a bold new chapter for PolyML as the company expands its mission to redefine AI’s role in financial services—with a focus on ethical development, privacy-preserving technologies, and explainable machine learning.
