CometChat, an in-app communication platform, has raised $6.5 million in fresh funding from existing backer Run Ventures as it sharpens its focus on artificial intelligence for enterprise customers.
The latest round brings the company’s total funding to $21.1 million, a company release said.
The new capital will support CometChat’s AI expansion strategy, which is built around three areas. These include proactive outbound intelligence, where AI agents monitor events such as restock alerts or refund delays and reach out to customers before they initiate contact.
Another area is multi-agent orchestration, a visual workflow builder that allows non-technical teams to manage specialized agents for tasks like billing, scheduling, and recommendations.
The third is a customer intelligence layer that automatically captures customer preferences to personalize interactions across web, SMS, WhatsApp, and voice channels.
CometChat AI enables businesses to build and deploy conversational AI agents without coding or specialized expertise. The platform is based on six years of communication infrastructure and is designed to serve as a primary interaction layer between companies and their customers.

Speaking about the funding, Anuj Garg, cofounder and CEO of CometChat, said, “The current fund raise is specifically done to accelerate our AI play.” He added, “Our GTM in this vertical would be to target high-transaction verticals like wellness & beauty, home services, e-comm, hospitality & food service.”
Garg further noted, “The combination of inbound responsiveness and proactive outreach drives measurable retention and revenue outcomes.” He said existing investors backed the round because “they see the value in adding such key services to our offerings” and wanted “to accelerate our growth trajectory.”
From the investor side, Brandon Tidwell, co-founder and general partner at Run Ventures, said, “We have witnessed how methodically Anuj and Anant have scaled the business.” He added that CometChat has become “an intelligent communication layer with several proven use cases.”
Tidwell also said, “The company has been piloting its AI platform with encouraging early signs as enterprise customers have come onboard.” He noted that the new funding “will help CometChat to further expedite its AI strategic play.”
Over the next 12 to 18 months, the company plans to focus on scaling AI deployments, expanding its go-to-market strategy, and building leadership in key verticals.
CometChat was also featured on Forbes’ 2026 list of the Top 500 American Startup Employers.
