Within the large Indian American community, a unique subset of ‘third culture kids’ (TCKs) exists. These individuals are those who have never lived outside America but navigate a ‘third culture’ born from the mix of their Indian heritage and American upbringing.
For several second-generation Indian Americans, their culture is neither fully Indian nor fully American, crafting a distinctive ‘third culture,’ which shapes their perspectives and experiences. This in-betweenness could be both uplifting and challenging at the same time. New India Abroad spoke to some Indian Americans who identify as ‘third culture kids.’ Here’s what they had to say.
