The Myanmar chapter of the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) was inaugurated on November 5, as a ceremonial gathering to commemorate the special occasion as well as to celebrate the Indian festival, Diwali.

The Indian Ambassador Vinay Kumar, the Sri Lankan Ambassador J.M.J.P Bandara, the Nepali Ambassador Harishchandra Ghimire, the Singaporean Ambassador Vanessa Chan, the GOPIO Myanmar President Ravindra Jain, as well as more than 150 GOPIO members, attended the organization's inauguration ceremony in the India Center.
