The inaugural Namaste Vietnam Festival recently witnessed a grand opening at the Independence Palace in Ho Chi Minh City. Several notable people from the Indian film fraternity made their appearance on the red carpet at the event, including a delegation of award-winning filmmakers including Rahul Mittra, Umesh Shukla, Rahul Rawail known for films like Sarkar 3, Oh My God (OMG) and Betaab respectively.
The Ambassador of India to Vietnam, Pranay Verma inaugurated the festival. In his address, he said that India wants to promote three key elements during the festival: Trade, Connectivity and Culture and reiterated that the festival was part of Prime Minister Modi’s Look East policy. Tran Phuoc Anh, director of the city’s Department of Foreign Affairs, was also present for the inauguration.
