A group of Indian nurses have gained acclaim in Malta after winning their maiden T20 international match against Romania last month. The medical professionals had migrated to the Mediterranean island nation and have previously had no experience playing cricket.

Malta’s first T20 International (T20I) Women’s team was recently formed and had over 20 members who consisted primarily of Indian nurses.  These unpaid players also included women from Nepal, Bangladesh, the Philippines, South Africa and the UK. None of them were native to Malta.
