January 2023 has already seen more tech layoffs than the entire first half of 2022

The majority of those job cuts were made at Big Tech companies like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft, who had the largest staff bases.

There have been more layoffs in the tech industry in the first 20 days of January than there were in the first six months of 2022 put together, according to job-cut tracker Layoffs. FYI.

Between January and June of 2022, there were 44,257 reported layoffs in the IT industry. In 2023, 154 tech companies have recorded 55,225 layoffs in the course of just one month.
