Naor Gilon, the Israeli ambassador to India, wrote an open letter to Nadav Lapid, the chairman of the jury for the 53rd International Film Festival (IFFI), saying it is disrespectful and arrogant to comment on historical events one is unfamiliar with, particularly those that "are an open wound in India."
Gilon said, “I’m no film critic but I do know that it’s insensitive and presumptuous to speak about historic events before deeply studying them and which are an open wound in India because many of the involved are still around and paying a heavy price.”
