Indian H1B visa holders stage protest at Silicon Valley

Indians with advanced degrees who want to live permanently in the United States should prepare for a 151-year wait, according to a Cato Institute estimate.

A group of Indian software professionals organized a march on the streets of San Jose, California, on Dec.17, 2022 to protest the over 150-year waiting period that Indians have to face to obtain a green card.

As H-1B visa holders, the protestors were legally hired by employers in the United States for their specific skills and expected to be granted permanent residency in a few years.
