Indian-origin Suella Braverman, the UK home secretary, met with police officers and Hindu and Muslim community leaders in Leicester and provided them with assurances that "thugs" responsible for recent violent conflicts in the US will be prosecuted to the maximum extent of the law.
The Leicestershire police chief, as well as representatives from the city's mosques and temples, briefed the Cabinet minister on the unrest after the India-Pakistan cricket match that has led to 47 arrests.
