New York City Mayor Eric Adams has appointed Shampa Chanda as chair of the New York City Board of Standards and Appeals (BSA) for her expertise in zoning, planning, and land use.

The BSA was created as a separate board to give "relief" from the zoning rules and is an essential component of the city's system for controlling land use, development, and construction.
