Mikey Hothi, whose parents hail from Punjab, has been unanimously elected Mayor of Lodi, California, thereby becoming the city's first Sikh Mayor.
"Honored to be sworn in as the 117th Mayor of the City of Lodi," Hothi tweeted on Friday. He represents the fifth council district and was vice Mayor last year under Mayor Chandler, who declared his intention to not run for reelection in the summer.
