Indian Missions around the world commemorate Veer Baal Diwas

Embassies in Washington, London, and Australia marked the occassion in their respective countries.

Indian missions in several nations commemorated the inaugural Veer Bal Diwas, on Dec. 26, 2022 by hosting a variety of events such as exhibitions, and talks.

On January 9 of this year, while observing the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had declared December 26 as "Veer Bal Diwas", to commemorate the death anniversary of Sikh Guru Gobind Singh's four sons, Baba Ajit Singh, Baba Jujhar Singh, Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh.

‌‌The Indian-American community celebrated the first "Veer Bal Diwas," by honoring the extraordinary sacrifices made by the four sons of the 10th Sikh Guru who gave up their lives in defense of their faith.

‌A digital exhibition on the lives of the four Sahibzades was hosted on the by the Indian Embassy in Washington D.C. Charge d'Affaires Sripriya Ranganathan in her remarks emphasized that many steps were taken by the Indian government to recognise Sikh holidays.

Other embassies also held similar events to mark the important day.

‌‌PM Modi, speaking at the first event of Veer Bal Diwas, said it would Empower Indians to take pride in their identity in the world. He added that Veer Bal Diwas will remind us that age does not matter when it comes to extreme valour and sacrifice.

‌“Veer Bal Diwas will tell us what is India and what is its identity and every year, Veer Bal Diwas will inspire us to recognize our past and make our future. This will also remind everyone about the strength of our young generation”, the Prime Minister added.
