Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said India is emerging as a bright spot on the global stage under the decisive leadership of Prime Narendra Modi, and the world is looking up to it in every sphere. In an interaction with the Indian diaspora, he recalled fondly their contribution to Indo-French relations and said that they are a living bridge between the two countries.

While sharing India’s development with the Indian diaspora in Paris, the minister said that the focus of the government has been on ensuring the basic needs—housing, healthcare, food and clothing, to every single person of the lower strata of society.

“India deeply values its 25 years of strategic partnership with France and 75 years of friendship, he said, adding that France is the preferred partner in defence, economy and investments."

Stating that this year India is celebrating 25 years of partnership with France and 75 years of India’s independence, the Minister said that it is a great opportunity for each one of us to reflect on new ideas about how our country should progress in the future.

The Prime Minister realised the significance of basic needs in ensuring dignity and launched the Swachh Bharat Mission under which crores of public facilities were built throughout the country.

He recalled the Ujwala Scheme for cooking gas connections to the poor, Ayushman Bharat, a health care scheme, and Jal Jeevan Mission, a safe drinking water scheme, as the achievements of the Modi government.

He said that the Indian community in France can contribute to the journey of Amrit Kaal envisioned by the Prime Minister to see India as a developed Nation by 2047.
