Anil Beephan becomes first Indian American Republican to serve in NY State assembly

The Republican began his career in public service by serving as a volunteer firefighter for the East Fishkill Fire District for eight years.

Anil Beephan Jr has become first ever Indian American Republican to be elected to the New York State Assembly. He took office as the State representative, representing the 105th Assembly district of New York on Jan. 1, 2023.

Announcing his election, the Republican State Leadership Committee said in a tweet, “As a volunteer firefighter, @AnilBeephanjr has always put his community first. Now he’ll get to do so as a legislator by advocating for smart conservative policies that support jobs and grow the economy. Congrats to Anil on his victory! We are excited to see how he improves NY.”
