India to promote tourism at exhausted coal mines

Two exhausted coal mines were converted to tourism eco-parks in Madhya Pradesh.

The Indian Ministry of Coal on Jan. 2, 2023, announced its plans to convert suitable coal mines after exhaustion of reserves into tourism sites as eco-parks, water sports and underground mining tourism among others.

As per Ministry of Coal spokesperson, these exhausted coal mining sites have great potential for recreation, revenue generation and employment for local population.
