India to participate in UNSC debate on peace, security in Africa

The minister will attend an event the next day to commemorate the fifth anniversary of India-UN Development Partnership Fund

India's junior minister for external affairs V. Muraleedharan will be on a 4-day official visit to the US from Thursday during which he will participate in the high-level UN Security Council debate on "Peace and Security in Africa: Strengthening the fight against the financing of armed groups and terrorists through the illicit trafficking of natural resources”.

The UNSC meeting on October 6 is a signature initiative of Gabon’s Presidency of the Security Council and likely to be presided over by the Foreign Minister of Gabon, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a press release.
