India to fine rear passengers in cars for not wearing seatbelts after Cyrus Mistry's car crash

The minister announced that talks are on with car manufacturers to install seatbelt alarm for passengers in the rear seat.

A penalty will be imposed on passengers in rear seats of cars for not wearing seatbelts said Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways, at an event in New Delhi on Tuesday.

This action of the government comes after the tragic death of business tycoon Cyrus Mistry recently in a car crash. Reportedly, the cause of his death was because Mistry was not wearing the seatbelt while travelling as a rear passenger in an over speeding vehicle.
