India set to become major iPhone maker

India is poised to become a significant hub for iPhone manufacturing as the US smartphone juggernaut Apple seeks to diversify production units outside of China.

Industry executives and analysts predict that from its present 5 percent level, the proportion of iPhones made in India will increase to almost a fifth of overall output in value during the next three to four years.

The iPhone SE, iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and iPhone 14 (basic) models are now produced by Apple in India, where, every Pro model offered for sale in the nation is exported to all countries in the world.
