India is a "bright spot" in world economy: IMF official

The event that coincided wih a book launch was also attended by the Reserve Bank of India governor, Shaktikanta Das.

International Monetary Fund (IMF) deputy managing director Antoinette Sayeh, on January. 6, 2023, hailed India as a "bright spot" in the dull and sluggish scenario of the world economy.

Speaking at the Conference on South Asia's Path to Resilient Growth India, Sayeh said the country is showing a much more positive growth rate than that of its neighbours and peers despite being among the worst impacted by the second wave of the pandemic.
