India has the potential to develop into a major provider of machinery for renewable energy, said Piyush Goyal, the central minister of commerce and industry at  a conference on renewable energy organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry.

Goyal said businesses must work to keep the nation's renewable energy supply chain complete in every industry -- from machinery manufacture to new technology development.
