Income Tax officials search BBC India offices

The public broadcaster with its headquarters in London and its Indian division's business practices are being examined by the Indian tax sleuths.

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) offices in New Delhi and Mumbai were searched the Income Tax Department on February 14, 2023, a few weeks after the UK network aired a programme about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Gujarat riots of 2002.

According to reports, IT officials arrived at the BBC offices in Delhi and Mumbai and restricted the company's employees from leaving the premises or using their computers or phones.
