Glasgow Life Museums, the body in charge of managing museums in Glasgow, signed an agreement with the Government of India to become the first UK museums service to repatriate artefacts to India.

As per the agreement, seven Indian antiquities including a 14th century Indo-Persian talwar (sword) and a 11th century carved stone door jamb taken from a Hindu temple in Kanpur, will be returned to India. Six items in the collection belong to temples and shrines in different states in Northern India.
