Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) Class of 1981 recently celebrated their 40th reunion on campus, during which they created history by setting a record for the largest donation made by a single class in the institute’s 63 year history.

The 600 students who graduated from the institute’s B.Tech, M.Tech and PhD programs in 1981 donated a fleet of electric buses and golf carts to their alma mater. The electric vehicles will replace the diesel-run vehicles that are currently in use on campus, thereby lowering the institute’s carbon footprint.
