As part of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day celebrations, the Indian American Forum (IAF) honored five women, who excelled in their professions and volunteer work, during its 12th Outstanding Women’s Achievements Gala at the Metropolitan Caterers in Long Island.
The five honorees were, Sandhya Bhatia, branch manager, vice president of Flushing Bank, Nayana Brahmbhatt, a BAPS volunteer, Dr. Parul Dua Makkaris, owner of PDM Family Dental in Long Island, Dr. Purvi Parikh, an allergist and immunologist at Allergy and Asthma Associates of Murray Hill, and Ria Parashar who is a volunteer at Children's Hope.

The honorees also received commendations from the Town of Hempstead's deputy supervisor Dorothy Goosby, Town of Oyster Bay supervisor Joseph Saladino, Nassau County Comptroller Elaine Phillips, and Town of North Hempstead clerk Ragini Srivastava.
According to a news release, the event was a huge success because of its socio-cultural activities, which promoted understanding, secular heritage, and Indian values.
The organizing team behind the gala, led by chairperson Indu Jaiswal and Gala chair Shammi Singh, worked in tandem with the entire IAF team to celebrate the success of these distinguished individuals' outstanding accomplishments in front of a large audience of accomplished guests and community leaders, the release noted.
