The 36th National Games officially began on Thursday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat with an opening ceremony that showcased Gujarat's exceptional organisational abilities and the nation's aim to establish itself as a soft power in sports.
The world's largest cricket stadium was transformed into a mega platform for the sporting extravaganza showcasing more than 8000 athletes from all over the country with more than 100,000 spectators.
