Chicago's Telugu associations' celebrate Women’s Day

Several senior women from the Chicago Area Telugu Seniors (CATS) association who have made significant contributions to the Indian community in the area were honored during the event.

The Telugu Association of Greater Chicago (TAGC), Telugu Association in North America (TANA) in collaboration with the American Telangana Sangham celebrated International Women's Day in Illinois recently‌‌.

Over 500 women from different parts of Chicago gathered to celebrate the event, themed "Be the heroine of your life”. The ceremonial lamp was lit by presidents of the organizations and chairs of the event. A devotional song by singer Shruti Thakur accompanied the proceedings.

Several senior women from the Chicago Area Telugu Seniors (CATS) association who have made significant contributions to the Indian community in the area were honored during the event. A ramp walk, reels competition, and party games were part of the celebrations.

In her address, guest speaker Vidya Nahar spoke about the importance of yoga for women. The other speakers Satya Rangaraju and Subhapriya Lakshmanan spoke about empowerment.‌‌   ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌

The participants at the event also had the opportunity to network and connect with other women in attendance, forming new relationships and creating opportunities, a news release noted.

The attendees also raised money for Suguna Foundation, a non-profit based in Andhra Pradesh, which provides care and living facilities for senior citizens and Akshaya Foundation, an organisation catering to the educational needs of children. ‌‌
