Govt of Karnataka, Wadhwani AI partner to promote farmer welfare

Founded by Indian Americans Romesh and Sunil Wadhwani, the institute specially focuses on finding AI based solutions to agricultural issues in India.

The Karnataka State Department of Agriculture (KSDA) and Wadhwani AI, an Artificial Intelligence based nonprofit, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on February 17, 2023, to enable scaled deployment of Wadhwani AI’s early pest warning system in the state and provide solutions to farmers cultivating cotton and other crops.

To make the agriculture department AI ready, Wadhwani AI will also conduct capacity-building programmes for staff on the proper use of AI and its application to improve agriculture systems in the state.
