Govt open to increasing investment in India Semiconductor Mission: Minister

The government announced last year to provide 50 percent incentive to all applicants, regardless of the investment or the size of the chip they intended to make.

The Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, said that the central government is willing to increase its investment in the India Semiconductor Mission as and when necessary.

Vaishnaw stated that the US$10 billion (about Rs. 76,000 crore) investment was only "the first tranche" while speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
