Punjabi-origin leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP), Jagrup Brar, was appointed Minister of State on December 7, 2022, by the NDP-led government of British Columbia (BC), Canada. He was sworn in at the Government House in Victoria.
Born in an outlying Bathinda village of Punjab,Brar was part of the National Basketball team. He moved to Canada for higher studies and obtained a Masters in Public Administration.
